We had a wonderful time at the 2020 ALERT Family Camp. We loved spending time together as a family, having fun with our kids, seeing old friends, and making new ones! Throughout the week, we participated in a variety of fun and memorable activities. Trail rides, archery, rappelling and rock climbing, plane rides, sewing crafts, and more… our kids were on cloud nine, jumping from one activity to the next, and we were doing our best to keep up! Ha!
Lew Sterrett, a professional horse trainer and family counselor, illustrated the freedom and responsibility we have as we grow in our relationship with Jesus Christ. We were all captivated watching him preach right from his saddle as he trained horses in front of our eyes! U.S. Congressman Louie Gohmert also spoke and challenged all of the attendees to remember our nation’s founding principles.
There is always something exciting to do at Family Camp, and this year’s tournaments included volleyball, horseshoes, fishing, and Ultimate Frisbee. Justin enjoyed playing in the volleyball tournament on a team with Claire! We also participated in a trade day, stick horse rodeo, and county fair. The sports complex, featuring volleyball, basketball, pickleball, carpet ball, 9-square, and a Nerf park, was definitely a favorite spot! A fantastic fireworks show finished the week with a bang. We can’t wait to go back next year!
