Our family got involved in our state legislature years ago. We just felt like we needed to get in there and serve and do whatever we could in our community to make a difference for our children's and our grandchildren's future. We feel like it is a privilege in our country to have the freedoms that we enjoy.

Fall is our family's favorite time of year. We love to make soup and homemade bread; it's one of our favorite meals. For me, when the temperature drops it signals hot soup and chili weather. It's such a nice change from the hot summertime foods.
I've written about the importance of respecting money in our family. And it's something we try to instill in our kids as early as possible. Johannah and Jackson (5 and 6) really enjoy earning money and learning how to keep a record of their little accounts.
I think many of us throughout our lives have a need to seek counsel; it's just part of life. At times you're going to come up against a hard situation, tough decisions, and you may need counsel, and that's just the way it is.
